About the project
Reflectir was the first work awarded at the FAAP Annual Art Prize in 2003. It also won the Chamex Arte Jovem Prize from the Tomie Ohtake Institute in 2004.
The work Reflectir is a 1x1m cube of mirrors placed inside the Tietê, a river that crosses the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It was the artist’s first work that established a direct relationship between the city and its citizens: the viewer was actually reflected inside this polluted river through the mirrored effect of the cube.
With this action, concrete but also intellectual, the public was led to reflect on the issue of environmental pollution and the individual responsibility necessary for the conservation of our planet.
